Neighborhood Healthcare is seeking a Certified Nurse Midwife to oversee direct client services in maternity, newborn, and family planning. The role supports care teams under provider supervision, with a Monday–Friday 8am–5pm schedule.
Requirements include a Master’s in NP, California NP and RN licenses, CNM certification, DEA licensure, and BLS; board certification or eligibility is expected. Excellent communication and collaborative skills are essential.
Qualifications

- California NP license and RN license in good standing are required.
- Current California DEA licensure and CNM certification required.
Responsibilities
- Provides medical care and treatment to obstetrical patients under supervision of provider.
- Participates in initial examination of obstetrical patients to ensure proper care and treatment.
- Examines patients during pregnancy and records findings to plan prognoses.
- Educates patients in prenatal health and dietary practices.
- Administers emergency measures and coordinates with provider when deviations occur.
- Maintains complete medical records according to policies.
- Orders, interprets, and evaluates diagnostic tests.
- Submits care plans for periodic review.
- Prescribes treatments and refers to specialists as needed.
- Supports patient experience with courteous, accurate care.
- Collaborates with care teams to improve health outcomes.

The Certified Nurse Midwife will oversee the care and giving of direct client services to families in all areas of maternity, newborn, and family planning according to Neighborhood Healthcare policies, procedures, and consulting with providers.
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm.
- Provides medical care and treatment to obstetrical patients under supervision of provider, including instructing patients in prenatal and postnatal health practices
- Participates in initial examination of obstetrical patients to ensure proper care and treatment is provided, including discussing observed practices with supervising provider to prepare comprehensive care plans to ensure best outcomes
- Examines patients during pregnancy by using physical findings, laboratory test results, and patient statements to evaluate conditions and ensure progress is normal for patients, including recording physical findings and formulating plans/prognoses for patient conditions
- Educates patients to use prenatal health and dietary practices
- Administers stipulated emergency measures and arranges immediate contact with supervising or contracted provider when deviations from standard practice are encountered during pregnancy or delivery
- Maintains proper and complete medical records according to policies and procedures
- Orders, interprets, and evaluates diagnostic tests to identify and assess patient’s clinical problems and health care needs
- Submits health care plans and goals of individual patients for periodic review and evaluation by providers
- Prescribes or recommends drugs or other forms of treatment such as physical therapy, inhalations therapy, or related therapeutic procedures
- Refer patients to providers for consultation or specialized health resources for treatments
- Impact patient experience by demonstrating courteous and helpful behavior and a commitment to accuracy
- Share accountability for overall patient health outcomes by working in coordination with care teams

- Master’s degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program required
- California Nurse Practitioner and Registered Nursing license in good standing is required
- Current California DEA licensure is required and is to be maintained as a condition of employment
- Valid Certified Nurse Midwife certification required
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through an American Heart Association (AHA)-approved source is required upon hire and must be maintained as a condition of employment.
- AHA-approved courses include an in-person, hands‑on skills check with a certified instructor using a mannequin to demonstrate CPR and emergency response techniques.
- Online‑only BLS courses without a live skills check do not meet this requirement.
- Board Certification (ANCC/AANPCB) or board eligible with certification within 12 months of hire required
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including superior composition, typing and proofreading skills
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
- Knowledgeable about and experience with providing comprehensive prenatal and postpartum care
- Ability to provide vaginal deliveries at hospitals
- Ability to successfully manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Excellent planning and organizational ability
- Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently
- Ability to work with highly confidential information in a professional and ethical manner
- Ability to lift/carry 20 lbs/weight
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
- Follow all safety procedures as outlined in Neighborhood Healthcare’s Illness and Injury Prevention Plan (IIPP) and report any injuries and/or unsafe conditions immediately
- Maintain current knowledge of policies and procedures as they relate to safe work practices
- Use appropriate body mechanics to ensure an injury free environment
- Be familiar with location of nearest fire extinguisher and emergency exits
- Follow all infection control procedures including blood-borne pathogen protocols
- Maintain privacy of all patient, employee and volunteer information and access such information only on a need‑to‑know basis for business purposes
- Comply with all regulations regarding corporate integrity and security obligations
- Report all behavior and/or activity that are unethical, fraudulent, or unlawful

Pay range: $124,100 - $191,000 annually, depending on experience.
Compensation Disclosure: The posted salary range reflects the designated pay grade for this position. While this range represents the broader classification of the role, actual compensation will be based on several factors, including but not limited to the candidate’s overall knowledge, skills, and experience, market data and industry benchmarks, internal equity within the organization, Budgetary considerations and organizational needs. As a result, placement within the range is not guaranteed, and the full pay grade range may not be utilized.
