CNA – Job Summary

The Certified Nursing Assistant is responsible for providing direct care to the patients in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern our facility, and as may be requested by the Director of Nursing Services or designee.

CNA – Essential Job Functions

• Prepare for new admissions by ensuring rooms are ready and welcome packets are prepared
• Greet new admissions and make them and their family members feel welcome and comfortable, and get the patient settled in accordance with new admit protocol
• Communicate with nursing staff and care team effectively, both verbally and in writing
• Prepare residents for therapy services, appointments and meals
• Keep residents’ rooms tidy and free of clutter
• Assist with ADLs
• Take vitals and record them according to protocol
• Carry out restorative and rehabilitative programs, including self‑help and care
• Answer call lights and assist residents in a timely manner
• Administer services within the applicable scope of practice
• Ensure residents follow dietary allowances; report problem areas to the nurse supervisor
• Assist in arranging transportation for patients as appropriate
• Comply with the rights of patients in a skilled nursing facility and act in a manner consistent with and respectful of those rights
• Maintain Relias training and in‑service requirements
• Perform charting duties as required and in accordance with established charting and documentation policies and procedures, and applicable state and federal regulations
• Chart notes in a professional and appropriate manner that timely, accurately and thoroughly reflects the care provided to the patient, as well as the patient’s response to the care
• Takes direction from charge staff

Qualifications

• Must possess, as a minimum, a Nursing Assistant certification for the applicable state

• Must possess a current, unencumbered, active certification to practice as a CNA in the applicable state and must report any situations that may arise in which the certification could be affected
• Must pass a pre‑employment background check and drug test
