Job summary

Coryell Health in Gatesville, TX, is seeking a Medical/Surgical CNA to provide direct patient care under RN/LVN supervision on a busy Med/Surg unit.

Responsibilities include assisting with ADLs, taking vital signs, aiding mobility, observing patient condition, and ensuring safety and infection control. Requires TX CNA certification and BLS/CPR; strong communication and detail orientation preferred.

Qualifications

• Current Texas CNA certification.
• Current BLS/CPR certification (preferred or required depending on facility).
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team.
• Ability to follow instructions and work in a fast-paced acute care environment.
• Strong attention to detail and patient safety practices.
• Physical ability to lift, move, and assist patients safely.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, grooming, toileting, dressing, and feeding
• Take and record vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respirations, oxygen saturation)
• Assist with mobility, transfers, ambulation, and repositioning to prevent skin breakdown
• Collect and document intake/output measurements as directed
• Observe and report changes in patient condition to nursing staff promptly
• Maintain patient safety, including fall prevention and infection control practices
• Provide basic comfort measures such as hygiene care, linens, and room tidiness
• Transport patients within the facility as needed (diagnostic tests, procedures, etc.)
• Assist nursing staff with routine non-invasive procedures
• Ensure patient rooms and work areas are clean, organized, and stocked

Brief Description

The Medical/Surgical Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides direct, hands-on patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN). This role supports patients on a busy Med/Surg unit by assisting with activities of daily living, monitoring patient conditions, and ensuring a safe, clean, and supportive environment for recovery.
