Job summary

AccentCare seeks a Hospice Music Therapist for Edison, NJ. This PRN role requires MT-BC certification and a degree in music therapy, with experience supporting terminally ill patients and families.

Travel to multiple care locations is expected, and a valid driver’s license and auto insurance are required. The role involves assessing patients, planning and guiding music therapy interventions, evaluating outcomes, and supporting staff through in-services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Music with a concentration in Music Therapy from AMTA-approved university.
• Board Certified Music Therapist (MT-BC) by CBMT.
• Experience with terminally ill patients/families is highly desirable.
• Must have reliable automobile, valid driver's license and minimum state liability auto insurance.

Responsibilities

• Complete the music therapy assessment with patient and family when referred in accordance with the interdisciplinary plan of care.
• Plan music therapy interventions.
• Guide the patient in the use of creative therapeutic activities to improve or maintain mental and physical function and quality of life.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of music therapy services with patient and/or family.
• Provide in-services to staff, hospitals, nursing homes, and other facilities as requested.

Responsibilities:

As a Hospice Music Therapist you will:

• Complete the music therapy assessment with patient and family when referred in accordance with the interdisciplinary plan of care

• Plan music therapy interventions
• Guide the patient in the use of creative therapeutic activities for the purpose of improving or maintaining mental and physical function and quality of life
• Evaluate the effectiveness of music therapy services with the patient and / or family-of-choice
• Provide in-services to staff, hospitals, nursing homes, and other facilities as requested and determined appropriate by therapist.
• As one of the couneslors in the interdisciplinary grou (IDG), the MT servces as the counselor at IDG meetings, participates in on call rotation, and assists with sign ups and consents for newly referred patients
• Support the bereavement program at the site level

Required Certifications and Licensures:

• Board Certified as Music Therapist (MT-BC) by the Certification Board for Music Therapy (CBMT)
• Must be a licensed driver who can travel to all business locations
