Job summary

Shawnee Gardens Healthcare & Rehab Center in Shawnee, KS seeks a Certified Medication Aide (CMA) to deliver routine nursing care and accurate medication administration under supervision of the Charge Nurse, RN Supervisor, Director of Nurses, or Administrator.   • Current CMA Certification: must hold a valid CMA certification.
  • English fluency: read, write and speak English.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the administration of medications to residents on your assigned unit.
  • Prepare residents for therapy, activities, physician visits, religious services, and other appointments, including transporting residents to and from these activities.
  • Accurately prepare and administer medications, ensuring they are given to the right patient, at the right time, in the correct dosage, and via the proper route.
  • Assist residents with proper hygiene, including bathing, and encouraging self-help measures and activities.
  • Follow infection control procedures as stipulated by the facility's policy, particularly when isolation techniques are necessary.
  • Maintain thorough and accurate documentation related to the CMA role during every shift.
  • Present a professional image to residents and families through attire, behavior, and communication.
  • Adhere to high standards for addressing and resolving consumer concerns.
  • Uphold the rights of all residents to ensure their well-being and dignity.

As a Certified Medication Aide (CMA), you play a vital role in providing routine nursing care while ensuring the accurate and timely administration of medications. You will follow established policies and procedures, working under the guidance of our Charge Nurse, RN Supervisor, Director of Nurses, or Administrator. Your dedication and attention to detail are essential to maintain the highest standard of resident care.

Qualifications:
  • Current CMA Certification: You must hold a valid certification as a Certified Medication Aide (CMA).
  • Language Proficiency: The ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.
  • Compassion and Patience: CMAs should exhibit patience, tact, a cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm, along with a willingness to cater to residents at their specific maturity levels.
