Job summary

Life Care Centers of America is seeking Certified Medication Aides to support residents in a post-acute care setting. You will administer commonly used medications, document administration, and help ensure safety and compliance with care plans.

Requirements include a State CNA program diploma, active licensure, completion of a Certified Medication Aide program, CPR certification, and prior geriatric experience preferred. CPR must remain current during employment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Graduate of a State approved CNA program and active license.
  • Completed a State approved Certified Medication Aide program and exam.
  • CPR certification upon hire or during orientation and maintained.
  • One year geriatric nursing experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately prepare, administer, store, and document medications per orders.
  • Develop and implement procedures to prevent medication errors.
  • Report medication errors immediately to supervisor.
  • Ensure medication orders are written, signed, and dated by a physician.
  • Chart accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Perform CNA functions as directed by supervisor.
  • Provide excellent patient service and maintain a positive attitude.
  • Assist in the evacuation of patients when needed.
  • Maintain dependable attendance and teamwork.

Education

Graduate of a State approved CNA program
Certified Medication Aide program and exam completed
Currently registered/licensed in applicable State

Position Summary

The Certified Medication Aide delivers quality care to patients during the admission and readmission process in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, and Life Care's standards.

Education, Experience, And Licensure Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Graduate of a State approved CNA program
  • Currently registered/licensed in applicable State. Must maintain an active license in good standing throughout employment.
  • One (1) year geriatric nursing experience preferred
  • CPR certification upon hire or obtain during orientation. CPR certification must remain current during employment.
  • Completed a State approved program and exam for Certified Medication Aide
Specific Job Requirements
  • Make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action
  • Knowledgeable of practices and procedures as well as the laws, regulations, and guidelines governing functions in the post acute care facility
  • Implement and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures of the department
  • Perform proficiently in all competency areas including but not limited to: patient rights, and safety and sanitation
  • Maintains professional working relationships with all associates, vendors, etc.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information
  • Understand and follow company policies including harassment and compliance procedures
  • Displays integrity and professionalism by adhering to Life Care's Code of Conduct and completes mandatory Code of Conduct and other appropriate compliance training
Essential Functions
  • Accurately and safely prepare, administer, store, and document the oral and/or topical medications that are commonly used in the facility as well as those which may be ordered by the attending physician
  • Assist in developing and implementing procedures to assess potential medication errors; when, where, and why they occur; and how they can be prevented.
  • Report medication errors immediately.
  • Ensure that no medication is administered without a written, signed, and dated order from an attending physician
  • Chart appropriately and in a timely manner
  • Perform CNA functions as directed by supervisor
  • Exhibit excellent customer service and a positive attitude towards patients
  • Assist in the evacuation of patients
  • Demonstrate dependable, regular attendance
  • Concentrate and use reasoning skills and good judgment
  • Communicate and function productively on an interdisciplinary team
  • Sit, stand, bend, lift, push, pull, stoop, walk, reach, and move intermittently during working hours
  • Read, write, speak, and understand the English language
