Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Medical Interpreter Certification from an accredited college or university OR Certification from a Medical Interpreter training course and successful completion of a third-party medical interpreter competency exam.
• One year of relevant interpreting experience.
• Bilingual.

Responsibilities

• Interprets the spoken language for patients, physicians and staff.
• Maintains confidentiality and adheres to HIPAA guidelines.
• Translates written documents when required.
• Participates in family meetings and assists with obtaining consent and financial aid.
• May take on-call requests to be available for emergencies as needed.
