Certified Medical Coder - HIM We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Certified Medical Coder to join our healthcare team. This position supports coding operations for both hospital and clinic services and offers a hybrid work schedule, combining remote work from home and on-site responsibilities. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of healthcare documentation, regulatory requirements, and coding guidelines to ensure accurate and timely coding of patient records.
Review and analyze medical records to assign accurate ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, payer, and organizational coding regulations.
Abstract relevant clinical information from patient records.
Work collaboratively with physicians, providers, nursing staff, and other departments to clarify documentation and resolve coding questions.
Maintain coding quality and productivity standards.
Support billing, reimbursement, and denial management processes through accurate coding.
Participate in coding audits and educational opportunities to maintain professional competency.
Stay current on coding updates, payer requirements, and healthcare regulations.
Assist with compliance initiatives and revenue cycle management activities as assigned.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum of 1 year of healthcare coding experience in a hospital, clinic, physician practice, or healthcare system.
Current coding certification from an accredited organization.
Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems.
Working knowledge of electronic health records (EHRs) and healthcare billing processes.
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Experience coding both hospital and professional/clinic services.
Associate degree in Health Information Management or related field.
Experience with coding audits, compliance programs, and payer guidelines.
This position follows a hybrid schedule, with responsibilities divided between remote work from home and on-site work at hospital and clinic locations. Candidates must have reliable internet service and a dedicated home workspace that meets HIPAA confidentiality requirements.
