Job summary

At Duke Health, a Certified Medical Assistant is sought to join Duke Womens Health Heritage in Wake Forest, NC. The CMA will provide direct and indirect patient care within a collaborative healthcare team.

Responsibilities include patient intake with vital signs, medication administration, assisting with exams, and ensuring accurate documentation and workflow. CMA certification and BLS are required, with completion of an accredited MA program.

Qualifications

• Graduation from accredited Medical Assistant program.
• High school or GED graduation required.
• Certification by AAMA, AMT, NHA-CCMA, NCMA or ARMA.
• BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Perform intake with patients including vital signs and visit information.
• Take telephone messages, document encounters, follow clinic protocols, and inform providers.
• Administer medications to patients as ordered or per established protocols.
• Assist providers with examinations and procedures.
• Prepare for clinical procedures, maintain high level disinfection and sterilization, and perform related tasks within scope of practice.
• Obtain prior authorizations for medications and durable medical equipment as indicated.
• Float in clinic to cover patient and provider needs as delegated by nurse manager or lead.

Job Summary:

We are seeking aCertified Medical Assistantto be an integral member of the healthcare team and provide direct and indirect care to patients at Duke Womens Health Heritage in Wake Forest, NC.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Perform intake with patients to include vital signs, visit information, and other clinical information as indicated.
• Perform telephone message taking with patients, document encounter, follow protocols established by clinic leadership, and inform provider.
• Administer medications to patients as ordered by providers or by established protocols following the six rights of medication administration.
• Assists providers with examinations and procedures
• Performs tasks such as set up for clinical procedures, high level disinfection & sterilization or other miscellaneous appropriate tasks within scope of practice.
• Attain prior authorizations for medications and durable medical equipment as indicated.
• Float in clinic to cover patient and provider needs as delegated by nurse manager, health center administrator, charge nurse, or nurse team lead.

Job Eligibility Requirements:

• Graduation from accredited Medical Assistant programaccredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) strongly preferred.
• High school or GED graduation required.
• Certification by AAMA, AMT, NHA-CCMA, NCMA or ARMA required.
• BLS required

Job Hours:

The schedule for this position is day shifts, Monday-Friday, with no weekends or holidays.
