Job Summary

The Medical Assistant will provide clinical support, assist with administrative tasks, and offer general support under the supervision of a licensed practitioner or designee in accordance with UVA Health policies and procedures and competency requirements to promote patient health and wellness. The role involves providing services to all age populations with sensitivity to functional and developmental age considerations.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED Required.
• Experience: Minimum of 1 year experience in a clinic setting preferred.
• Licensure: Current Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) credential, or completion of an approved medical‑assistant program. Must obtain certification within 6 months of hire through a recognized national professional association (e.g., AAMA, AMT, ARMA, NAHP, NHA).
• Additional Skills/Requirements: AHA Healthcare Provider BLS required. Ability to complete general and department‑specific skill validation and competency testing.
