MUSC Health is hiring a Certified Medical Assistant I at the Kershaw Urgent Care in Elgin. Under RN supervision, you will assist in patient examinations, take vital signs, and ensure accurate charting to support patient-centered care.

You will receive on-site training, work a 36-hour week during day shifts, and be responsible for preparing examination rooms and supporting physicians. Certification in CMA/CCMA/NAHP/NCCT and BLS are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of accredited medical assisting program.
• Current certification: CCMA/CMA/NAHP/NCCT or similar.

Job Description

The Certified Medical Assistant I reports to the Outpatient Clinic Manager. Under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, the Certified Medical Assistant performs multi-skilled activities to support a decentralized patient-centered approach to patient care and achieve desired outcomes. Assists in examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician. Interviews patients, measures vital signs (i.e., pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height), and records or inputs information to patients' medical record. Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients.

Additional Job Description

High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of an accredited medical assisting program with one year of patient care experience preferred. Must be certified through the American Medical Technologist (AMT) or American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or National Health career Association (NHA) or MedCA as a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP), or National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT). Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required.
