Job summary

Coastal Family Health Center in Astoria, OR is seeking a relief Certified Medical Assistant to support care teams in a busy community health setting. You will maintain patient records, assist providers during visits, and help prepare exam rooms.

This part-time, non-exempt role requires a high school diploma or GED, completion of an accredited medical assisting program, CPR certification, and a national credential within 90 days of hire.

Qualifications

  • CPR certification and national CMA credential within 90 days of hire.
  • Strong Microsoft Outlook/Word/Excel and EMR software skills.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and update patient medical records, including vital signs, treatments, and medications, and review immunization records.
  • Prepare for patient visits by reviewing files, ensuring necessary reports are available, and collaborating with Providers for efficient scheduling and continuity of care.
  • Prepare and maintain exam rooms, explain procedures to patients, provide education and coaching, respond to patient questions and concerns, and assist physicians during exams and procedures.
  • Collect and prepare lab specimens, administer medication, and perform other assigned clinical responsibilities

Position Highlights
  • $27.88-$41.05/hour DOE
As a Medical Assistant, you will have the opportunity to:
  • Maintain and update patient medical records, including vital signs, treatments, and medications, and review immunization records.
  • Prepare for patient visits by reviewing files, ensuring necessary reports are available, and collaborating with Providers for efficient scheduling and continuity of care
  • Prepare and maintain exam rooms, explain procedures to patients, provide education and coaching, respond to patient questions and concerns, and assist physicians during exams and procedures
  • Collect and prepare lab specimens, administer medication, and perform other assigned clinical responsibilities
Qualifications:
  • Minimum high school diploma or GED
  • Completion of either an accredited medical assisting program from CAAHEP or ABHES (720 Medical Assistant training hours, including 160-hour externship), an approved apprentice program, 720 hours of Medical Assistant college education, equivalent military training, or current MA or eligibility for certification
  • One year's experience as a CMA is preferred
  • CPR certification
  • National credential from AAMA, AMT, NHA, or NCCT within 90 days of hire
  • Medical knowledge for understanding theories, reasons, and technical aspects of medicine
  • Strong people skills to handle diverse personalities, backgrounds, and situations
  • Excellent multitasking ability to manage varied workloadsProficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Epic, and EMR
