Job summary

AdventHealth in Rome, GA seeks a Medical Assistant to support outpatient care with intake, testing, documentation and patient education. You will help maintain confidentiality and safety standards while supporting clinic operations.

Responsibilities include clinical intake, vital signs, specimen collection, medication reconciliation and inventory management. Requires BLS and CMA-equivalent certification, with a 36-hour week (Tue–Fri, 8am–5pm) in a day shift role.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of health care field and medical terminology
• Knowledge of chronic disease management
• Knowledge of and ability to utilize internal and external resources
• Expertise in patient advocacy and navigating complex systems
• Ability to function in stressful, fast-paced environments
• Ability to resolve issues and work independently within the scope of certification
• Ability to exercise sound judgement and maintain professionalism
• Proficient reading/writing/typing in English
• Experience with computers required

Responsibilities

• Maintain office flow by preparing patients and equipment for treatment and documenting results
• Provide patient care during visits including intake, screenings and medication administration
• Ensure confidentiality of patient and staff information
• Assist with minor procedures and ensure accurate documentation
• Educate patients regarding tests, medications and diets
• Monitor inventory and ensure supplies and equipment function properly
• Support staff by assisting patients, visitors, and coworkers as needed
• Perform clinical intake per policy, including vital signs and history taking

Job Description Full Time, 36 hrs. Requires full availability for Tues-Fri, 8am-5pm. Travels as needed to fulfill staffing needs and support clinic operations. Stays up to date and familiar with all policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with organizational standards. Maintains education requirements for the position and demonstrates competency through annual clinical competencies and written tests. Ensures efficient office flow by preparing patients and equipment for treatment, initiating testing, and documenting results in the practice’s designated system. Maintains OSHA regulatory enforcement and other office compliance, following safety processes and policies. Provides whole care to patients during office visits, including intake, test results, screenings, labs, medication administration, and closure of care gaps. Maintains confidentiality of employees' and patients' administrative and medical information. Supports staff teamwork by assisting patients, visitors, and co-workers when necessary. Performs clinical intake according to policy and procedures, including screenings, history taking, vital signs, and medication reconciliation. Assists with minor procedures associated with specialty and ensures accurate documentation at the time of service or results. Educates patients regarding tests, medications, and diet, providing clear and accurate instructions. Monitors and manages inventory, ensuring adequate supplies and functioning medical equipment. Performs other duties as assigned.
