Job summary

Optum Care in Rutherford, NJ is seeking a Medical Assistant - Pediatrics to join our team and support pediatric patient care. You will room patients, take histories, record vital signs and perform EKGs, administer injections, and document care in the electronic medical record.

The ideal candidate has 1+ year MA experience, an active national certification, and familiarity with Epic EMR. Sign-on bonus of $3,000 for external candidates, with comprehensive benefits after 30 days.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED required; CMA/RMA or equivalent national certification required.
• 1+ year medical office/hospital experience as Medical Assistant.
• Experience with Epic EMR preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare examination rooms and sterilize equipment.
• Room patients, take health history, record vital signs and perform EKGs.
• Administer injections and collect specimens.
• Document patient care in EMR and maintain accurate records.
• Schedule appointments, handle authorizations, process refills, manage referrals and calls.

Primary Responsibilities

• Prepare examination rooms and sterilize medical equipment
• Room patients, obtain health history, check vital signs and perform EKG's
• Administer injections and collect specimens
• Document patient care using electronic medical record software
• Schedule appointments, complete prior authorizations, process medication refills, handle referrals, answer calls and complete paperwork as needed
• Assist physicians, nurse practitioners or physician assistants with minor, in-office procedures

Required Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED
• 1+ years of experience as a Medical Assistant in a medical office, clinic or hospital setting AND Nationally Recognized Medical Assistant Certification from one of the following agencies: NAHP, NCCT, AAMA, AMT, NHA

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience as a Medical Assistant performing clinical back office duties including phlebotomy, injections, obtaining vital signs and recording medical history
• Experience with Epic EMR

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
