Job summary

MUSC is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to support outpatient clinic operations. You will assist physicians and nurses, interview patients, record vital signs, and prepare exam rooms for procedures.

This PRN, per-diem role requires completion of an accredited medical assisting program and relevant certifications, with BLS likely required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of an accredited medical assisting program preferred.
• Certification through AMT, AAMA, NHA, NCCT or MedCA as CMA/CCMA/NAHP required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in examination and treatment of patients under physician direction.
• Interview patients and record vital signs (pulse, temp, BP, weight, height).
• Prepare examination rooms and assist RN/physician as needed.

Job Description Summary

The Certified Medical Assistant reports to the Outpatient Clinic Manager. Under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, the Certified Medical Assistant performs multi-skilled activities to support a decentralized patient-centered approach to patient care and achieve desired outcomes. Assists in examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician. Interviews patients, measures vital signs (i.e., pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height), and records or inputs information to patients' medical record. Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients.

Job Description

High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of an accredited medical assisting program with one year of patient care experience preferred. Must be certified through the American Medical Technologist (AMT) or American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or National Health career Association (NHA) or MedCA as a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP), or National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT). Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required.
