Job summary

Tower Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to join its team, performing a blend of clerical tasks and direct patient care. You will greet patients, manage scheduling and EMR updates, and support clinical staff with histories, vital signs and exam room preparation.

You will room patients, explain procedures, ensure smooth patient flow, and assist physicians and mid-level providers during examinations. Certification as a Medical Assistant is required.

Qualifications

• Must have current certification or registration as Medical Assistant.
• High School Diploma or GED or graduation from a Medical Assistant program.
• Complete and maintain all competencies and trainings required for role.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients, answer phones, schedule appointments, and update EMR.
• Room patients, take histories, record vital signs, and assist during examinations.

Job Summary

• Medical assistant (MA) is positioned within the workforce to gather, screen, communicate and act based on delegation from a provider, registered nurse or Licensed Practical nurse as per scope of practice.
• The MA performs a combination of clerical and direct patient care duties.
• Clerical responsibilities include greeting patients, answering telephones, scheduling appointments, and updating patients electronic medical record (EMR).
• Clinical responsibilities include rooming patients, taking medical histories, performing and recording vital signs, preparing exam room for procedures, explaining treatment procedures to patients, preparing patients for examination, facilitation of patient flow through the office, and assisting the Physician, Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant during examinations.

Must be a Certified or Registered Medical Assistant

• Current Medical Assistant Certification awarded through American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), the American Medical Technologists (AMT), the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), the American Medical Certification Association (AMCA), National Association of Healthcare Professionals (NAHP) or the National Healthcare Association (NHA). Medical Assistant Certification other than those listed requires THMG Leadership Approval.
