Job summary

Atlantic Medical Group in Scotch Plains, NJ is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant I for per diem, variable shifts including Saturdays. You will support physicians with patient intake, vital signs, and documentation in a fast-paced primary care and pediatrics setting.

Under supervision, you will handle clerical tasks, EMR data entry (EPIC), and collaborate with the care team to ensure smooth operations. A high school diploma and national certification are required; BLS preferred.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
National Certification from an accredited Medical Assistant program is required.
National Certification CCMA from: NHA, AAMA, NAHP, ARMA, AMT, AMCA, or NCCT is required.

Responsibilities

Provides direct and indirect patient care under physician supervision.
Records vital signs, collects specimens, and administers medications under physician supervision.
Maintains patient records, conducts interviews, and administers screening tools.
Supports walk-in and scheduled visits and ensures clinical data accuracy.
Ensures compliance with accreditation standards and updates practice schedules as needed.
Guides patients through the healthcare system and coordinates referrals as necessary.

Job Description

Days & Shifts: Variable. Saturdays as needed.

Responsible for providing general direct and indirect patient care in a clinical setting under the direct supervision of a physician. Collaborates with the interdisciplinary care team to ensure functionality of practice operations to provide excellent patient care. Ensures medical facilities run smoothly, and works in a clerical, administrative, or clinical capacity, and may even be asked to perform more specialized tasks.

Principal Accountabilities:

Handles patient intake, updates medical records, and administers appropriate screening tools.

Records medical information and test results, conducts patient interviews, takes and records vital signs, collects specimens, and administers medication under physician supervision.

Assists with walk-in and scheduled clinic visits, ensures verification and recording of clinical data and adherence to quality standards.

Monitors environment for compliance with continual accreditation readiness and evaluates practice schedule for changes or updates.

Demonstrates knowledge of the certified medical assistant scope of practice, incorporating elements of holistic patient-centered and team-based care.

Guides patients through the health care system and helps patients arrive at scheduled appointments on time.

Provides emotional support related to the patient's clinical situation in accordance with the patient's plan of care.

Assists with referrals of patients to the appropriate specialist for diagnosis or treatment.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required:

High School Diploma or equivalent.

National Certification from an accredited Medical Assistant program.

National Certification CCMA from: NHA, AAMA, NAHP, ARMA, AMT, AMCA, or NCCT.

Preferred:

Associate's degree in Medical Care or related field.

1+ year of experience in Health Care services.

BLS upon hire

EPIC or similar EMR system

Ability to work within computer systems
