University of Florida Jacksonville Physicians, Inc. is seeking a Medical Assistant to support clinical and administrative tasks under licensed physician supervision. Responsibilities include vital signs, patient prep, documentation, medication administration, and teamwork across care teams.

Qualifications include CMA within 6 months, BLS at hire, 1 year MA experience preferred, and an accredited MA program. Travel to other clinics may be required; a strong focus on customer service is essential.

Overview

A professional multi‑skilled person dedicated to assisting in all aspects of medical practice including administrative and clinical procedures under the direct supervision and responsibility of a licensed physician.

Responsibilities

• Take patient's vital signs. Prepare patients for the provider's care. Assist with patient examinations or treatments.
• Correctly document all entries in the medical record, either electronic or hard copy, to include signature, date and time.
• Administer medication as directed by and under the direct supervision of a licensed physician.
• Observe and report patients' signs or symptoms. Collect routine laboratory specimens as directed by the provider.
• Administer basic first aid.
• Participate in performance improvement projects.
• Participate as an active care team member in the coordination of patient care.
• Provide a standard of excellence as it relates to customer service for patients, staff members, and other customers.
• Additional duties as assigned – may travel to other clinics under additional duties.

Qualifications

Experience Requirements

• 1 year Medical Assistant preferred.
• 2 years Clerical/Customer Service experience – ideally in a health care related industry preferred.
• 1 year experience with third party payors and computer experience for inputting data and reviewing patient demographic material preferred.

Education Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required.

Certification/Licensure

• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) required within 6 months.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required at time of hire.
• Medical Terminology Certificate preferred at time of hire.

Additional Details

• A requirement of having completed an MA program that is accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies, a national or state medical association, or an agency approved by the board.
