Job summary

Duke Health is seeking a Medical Assistant, Certified, for the GI Appointment Hub clinic located in Durham, NC. You will be an integral member of the healthcare team, providing direct and indirect care to patients in a fast-paced GI setting.

Responsibilities include patient intake with vitals, documenting encounters, assisting with procedures, and supporting clinic operations. Certification and BLS are required; Level I requires no experience while Level II requires 1 year of clinical experience

Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program strongly preferred.
High school or GED graduation required.
Certification by AAMA, AMT, NHA-CCMA, NCMA or ARMA required.
BLS required.

Responsibilities

Take patient intake including vital signs and visit details.
Triage telephone messages, document encounters, and inform the provider as needed.
Participate in performance improvement projects.
Set up for clinical procedures, perform high-level disinfection or sterilization as needed.
Obtain prior authorizations for medications and durable medical equipment.
Float in clinic to cover patient and provider needs as delegated by nurse leadership.
