Job summary

Broadlawns Medical Center in Des Moines, IA seeks a Certified Medical Assistant to perform patient-care tasks under the Clinic Manager's supervision in a busy clinic.

The role includes occasional lab and office duties, with emphasis on accurate data entry and patient confidentiality. A CMA certification through an accredited program is required within 6 months of hire, plus BLS and qualifying pharmacology training before independent care.

Qualifications

• Successful CMA education with an accredited program and certification within 6 months of hire.
• Ability to satisfactorily complete Broadlawns Pharmacology requirements prior to providing care independently.
• Basic Life Support certification prior to providing care independently.

Responsibilities

• Under direct supervision, perform selected patient-care tasks for patients of all ages in the clinic setting.
• Assist with laboratory and office duties as needed.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and accurate data entry.

Successful completion of medical assistant education with a CAAHEP or ABHES accredited program and certification with the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), American Medical Technologists (RMA), or National Association for Health Professionals (NRCMA) within 6 months of hire. or Current CMA certification with the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA), or National Healthcareer Association (CCMA) and completion of a medical assistant education program approved by Broadlawns Medical Center. a. Staff continuously employed in a CMA position with Broadlawns Medical Center as of September 1, 2025, will maintain qualifications as listed at the time of hire.2. Ability to satisfactorily complete Broadlawns Medical Center Pharmacology requirements prior to providing care independently.3.
