Qualifications

  • Current BLS certification.

Genesis Healthcare, Inc. is seeking a compassionate and dependable Certified or Registered Medical Assistant to support our providers and deliver exceptional patient care in a fast-paced community health setting. As a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), we are dedicated to improving access to quality healthcare across South Carolina.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare patients for examinations, treatments, and procedures by gathering medical histories and documenting chief complaints.
  • Obtain, record, and monitor vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, height, weight, and oxygen saturation.
  • Assist providers with examinations, in-office procedures, screenings, and treatments.
  • Administer vaccinations, injections, and medications within scope of practice and provider orders.
  • Perform phlebotomy, specimen collection, point-of-care testing, and assist with laboratory procedures as applicable.
  • Accurately document patient information, assessments, treatments, and provider instructions in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
  • Review patient charts prior to appointments to ensure records, test results, referrals, and preventive care needs are up to date.
  • Process medication refill requests, prior authorizations, referrals, and medical record requests.
  • Educate patients on treatment plans, medications, preventive care measures, and follow-up instructions as directed by the provider.
  • Coordinate patient referrals, diagnostic testing, and follow-up appointments to support continuity of care.
  • Monitor patient flow and assist with triage activities to ensure efficient clinic operations.
  • Maintain exam rooms, medical equipment, and clinical supplies, including inventory management and restocking.
  • Ensure compliance with infection control, OSHA, HIPAA, and organizational policies and procedures.
  • Respond professionally to patient phone calls, messages, and inquiries in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with providers, nurses, and administrative staff to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care.
  • Provide backup support for front desk functions, including patient check-in/check-out, scheduling, and registration as needed.
  • Float to other Genesis Healthcare locations and provide coverage across departments as assigned.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, staff training, and continuing education activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support clinic operations and patient care
Requirements
  • Current CMA or RMA certification/registration
  • Current BLS certification
Preferred:
  • 1+ year of Medical Assistant experience
  • Experience in primary care or community health
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and EMR systems
