Job summary

Valley Health System is seeking an experienced Medical Assistant to support physicians in a busy clinic in Paramus. You will perform patient intake, phlebotomy, EKGs and routine tests, and communicate with the physician and pharmacy as needed.

Accurate EMR documentation is required, and you will work within the practice team to ensure efficient workflows and high-quality patient care consistent with organizational standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and completion of a formal Medical Assistant program recognized by New Jersey.
• Certification as a medical assistant (AMT, AAMA, NCCT or equivalent).
• Experience in a clinic or outpatient setting preferred; HIPAA and confidentiality understood.

Responsibilities

• Perform patient intake, blood draw, EKG and required tests.
• Handle pharmacy calls and coordinate with physician as directed.
• Document accurately in the EMR in compliance with policies.
• Maintain effective teamwork and strong patient/customer care standards.

Responsible for accurately documenting in an EMR system in accordance with licensure and VMG policy and procedures. Maintains close working relationships with all practice staff to ensure proper workflow, care and treatment.

Experience

Previous MA experience in a clinic, physician's office or outpatient setting preferred. Certification required.

Skills

Current o Current and valid certification as a certified medical assistant or registered medical assistant recognized by the Board of Examiners such as American Medical Technology (AMT), American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) required BCLS certification preferred upon hire, will be required. Understanding of the operations of a medical practice preferred. Strong orientation towards the provisions of high quality, cost effective and comprehensive medical care. Ability to use effective organizational and time management skills to set priorities and respond quickly to urgent/emergent situations. Strong communication--both oral, written and presentation skills to convey information in a clear and concise manner to persons of varied age groups, customers and/or groups. Ability to create, maintain and support a high functioning team; establish and foster cooperative working relationships with staff and management; and function effectively as part of that team.
