Job summary

Crystal Clinic Orthopaedic Center in Fairlawn, OH is seeking a Medical Assistant to support physicians and extenders in a busy orthopedic outpatient practice. You will room patients, take histories, update meds and allergies, manage EMR documentation, prepare injections, and assist with casts, dressings, and DME.

Education: accredited Medical Assistant program graduate; 1–2 years MA experience preferred (orthopedic experience preferred).

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
• 1–2 years MA experience preferred; orthopedic or specialty clinic experience preferred.
• Current Medical Assistant certification required within 6 months; CMA/RMA/CCMA. BLS within 3 months.

Responsibilities

• Room patients, obtain and document histories, update medications and allergies, and maintain accurate EMR records.
• Prepare patient charts, process forms, review orders, and initiate radiology orders for provider signature.
• Prepare injections and assist with orthopedic treatments, including cast/splint changes and DME fitting.
• Coordinate referrals, prior authorizations, prescription requests, and patient follow-up care.
• Support charge capture and general clinic operations in a fast-paced outpatient setting.

Schedule and Location

Minimum 24 hours per month | Monday-Friday Variable 7:30AM-5PM. Location: Fairlawn, OH. Specialty: Orthopedics. Travel: Occasional travel between clinic locations.

What You'll Do

Provide clinical and administrative support to physicians and advanced practice providers in a busy orthopedic outpatient practice. Room patients, obtain and document medical histories, update medications and allergies, and maintain accurate patient records in the electronic medical record (EMR). Prepare patient charts, process forms, review orders, initiate radiology orders for provider signature, and support accurate charge capture. Prepare injections and assist with orthopedic treatments, including suture and staple removal, dressing changes, wraps, cast and splint application/removal, and durable medical equipment (DME) fitting. Coordinate referrals, prior authorizations, prescription requests, and patient follow-up care.

What We're Looking For

• Education: Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program required.
• Experience: 1 to 2 years of Medical Assistant experience preferred. Orthopedic or specialty clinic experience preferred.
• Skills: Strong clinical, communication, and organizational skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Experience with EMR systems preferred. Knowledge of orthopedic procedures, injections, casting, splinting, DME application, patient education, insurance authorizations, and clinical documentation preferred.
• Commitment to delivering exceptional patient care while supporting efficient clinic operations.
• License/Certifications: Current Medical Assistant certification required within 6 months of hire. Accepted certifications include Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), or Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA). BLS certification required within 3 months.
