Job summary

Vitruvian Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to support physicians in examination and treatment. You will prepare patients, collect vital signs, and assist with calls, refills, referrals, and prior authorizations.

You’ll interact with patients, document in charts, and help with clerical duties and scheduling as needed. Ideal candidates have a high school diploma, BLS certification, and 1–2 years clinical experience; Medical Assistant certification is preferred.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross.
  • Graduate from Medical Assistant program preferred.
  • Pass National Certification exam (AAMA, NHA, NCCT, AMT, NAHP) to be certified as Medical Assistant.
  • 1–2 years' clinical experience preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication with patients, physicians, and staff.
  • Ability to interpret and follow instructions and standards.
  • Time management and prioritization skills.
  • MS Office: Word and Excel proficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in examination and treatment under physician direction.
  • Prepare patients for visits and perform procedures with supervision.
  • Handle patient calls, prescriptions, referrals, and prior authorizations.
  • Measure vital signs and document in patient charts.
  • Explain treatments, medications, diets, and physician instructions.

Job Summary

Assists in examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician and/or advanced practitioner, including preparing patients to be seen by the physician and/or advanced practitioner, and perform specific procedures with appropriate orientation and supervision. Assists with patient phone calls, prescription refills, referrals, and prior authorizations. Interviews patients, measures vital signs (i.e. pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight and height) and records information in patients' charts. May be required to collect blood samples, tissue or other laboratory specimens and prepare them for testing. Explains treatment procedures, medications, diets and physician’s instructions to patients. Prepares treatment rooms for patient examinations, keeping the rooms neat and clean. Familiar with standard concepts, practices and procedures related to the practice. Follows standard procedures and/or written instructions to perform job duties. Assists with business operations, clerical, medical records management, reception, and patient scheduling as needed. Demonstrates teamwork to ensure achievement of team, individual, and corporate goals. Provides support to team members and performs other duties as required.

Job Qualifications
  • Education: High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Licensure: Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required from the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross.
  • Graduated from a Medical Assistant program, accredited by the Commission on accreditation of Allied Health Education Program preferred.
  • Test and pass the National Certification exam (AAMA, NHA, NCCT, AMT, NAHP) to be certified as Medical Assistant required.
  • Experience: 1-2 years' experience in a clinical setting is preferred.
  • Skills: Good oral and written communication skills to effectively interact with patients, physicians, advanced practitioners and staff members.
  • Ability to interpret and follow oral and written instructions, policies, guidelines and standards.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively.
  • Intermediate Proficiency level with Microsoft Office: Word and Excel.
