Job summary

Beacon Health System in Granger, IN seeks a Certified Medical Assistant for the Bone & Joint team at Beacon Medical Group. This full-time days role includes clinic duties, patient prep, venipuncture, EKGs, and data entry under supervision. A $2,500 sign-on bonus is offered. Excellent benefits and scheduling support accompany the position.

The candidate will report to the Practice Manager and work with clinical staff to ensure high-quality care and patient flow. Spanish-language skills are a plus.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Certified or Registered Medical Assistant with exam or program completed.
  • Prior medical office experience preferred.
  • Spanish language ability is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Assist physicians with patient care and procedures.
  • Answer phones, admit/discharge patients, and enter data.
  • Collect patient information, document medical history, maintain EMR records.
  • Venipuncture, EKGs, lab tests, injections, and medication administration.
  • Educate patients on instructions, follow-up care, and refills.
  • Schedule procedures and coordinate admissions and documentation.

WhatYou’llDo

As a Certified Medical Assistant, you will report to the Practice Manager and work under the direction of the Clinical Supervisor and Office Supervisor. Under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures, you will perform various clerical and patient care duties. Your responsibilities include assisting the physician in support of medical care, answering the telephone, admitting and discharging patients, and performing data entry.

  • Greet and assist patients and visitors; manage incoming calls and triage patient inquiries.
  • Collect and document patient information, medical history, and payment details; maintain accurate EMR records and charts.
  • Prepare patients for examination and assist providers with minor procedures and emergency care.
  • Perform clinical duties including venipuncture, specimen collection, EKGs, routine lab tests, medication administration, injections, and dosage adjustments as directed.
  • Educate patients on physician instructions, medications, and follow-up care; manage refills and monitor compliance.
  • Schedule office/hospital procedures, coordinate admissions, and transmit required documentation.
  • Maintain exam room supplies; clean and sterilize instruments and equipment using appropriate precautions.
  • Manage physician calendars and coordinate scheduling systems.
  • Ensure compliance with licensure, certifications (including BCLS/CPR), regulatory standards, mandatory education, and employee health requirements.
  • Demonstrate strong communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills while promoting teamwork and high-quality patient care.
  • Support departmental operations through meeting participation, professional development, and additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • The knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated below are acquired through the successful completion of a high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Must be a minimum of 17 years of age.
  • Must be Certified or Register Medical Assistant through either (1) successful completion of a Certification Exam or (2) through successful completion of an approved two-year Medical Assistant Program and successful completion of a Certification Exam.
  • Previous medical office experiencepreferred
  • The ability to speak and write Spanish isdesired.

What You Bring

As a Certified Medical Assist, you will demonstrate knowledge of and competency in performing patient care procedures, observations, treatments and techniques utilized by facility. It requires the ability to perform vena puncture. You will demonstrate a high level of interpersonal and communication skills necessary to consistently receive and greet visitors, clients, and staff members in a professional manner. You will demonstrate well-developed communication skills to communicate effectively and clearly to a variety of internal and external contacts. You will know about billing, office procedures and computer skills. You will demonstrate analytical skills that are necessary to solve patient problems and interpret data. You will promote collaboration and innovation in the clinical services to ensure an interdisciplinary approach to improving health care delivery and the quality of patient care. Lastly, it requires the ability to perform EKG's and other procedures applicable to the practice (e.g., treadmills).
