Job summary

HEALTH CARE PARTNERS in Conway, SC is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to provide clinical support to physicians and advanced practice providers. The CMA will assist with patient intake, clinical procedures, medication administration, preventive care, patient education, and care coordination.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Current CMA certification required.
  • Current BLS certification required.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in a physician practice or similar healthcare setting preferred.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred but not required.
  • Experience with EHR systems preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for examinations by obtaining medical histories, vital signs, chief complaints, and other clinical information in the EHR.
  • Assist physicians and advanced practice providers with examinations, procedures, and patient care.
  • Administer medications, immunizations, injections, and treatments within the CMA scope of practice and as directed by the provider.
  • Perform routine clinical procedures, including specimen collection, wound care, EKGs, point-of-care testing, and other delegated duties.
  • Coordinate laboratory testing, referrals, diagnostic procedures, and follow-up appointments to support continuity of care.
  • Educate patients regarding medications, preventive care, treatment plans, and provider instructions.
  • Support quality improvement initiatives, including UDS measures and preventive care initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the EHR.
  • Maintain examination rooms, clinical equipment, and supplies while adhering to OSHA, infection prevention, and safety standards.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and protect health information in accordance with HIPAA and organizational policies.
  • Collaborate with providers, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary care teams to ensure coordinated, patient-centered care.
  • Participate in required trainings, staff meetings, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Summary

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Prepare patients for examinations by obtainingmedical histories, vital signs, chief complaints, and other clinicalinformation in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
  • Assist physicians and advanced practiceproviders with examinations, procedures, and patient care.
  • Administer medications, immunizations,injections, and treatments within the Certified Medical Assistant scope ofpractice and as directed by the provider.
  • Perform routine clinical procedures, includingspecimen collection, wound care, electrocardiograms (EKGs), point-of-caretesting, and other delegated duties.
  • Coordinate laboratory testing, referrals,diagnostic procedures, and follow-up appointments to support continuity ofcare.
  • Educate patients regarding medications,preventive care, treatment plans, and provider instructions.
  • Support quality improvement initiatives,including HRSA Uniform Data System (UDS) measures and preventive careinitiatives.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation inthe Electronic Health Record (EHR).
  • Maintain examination rooms, clinical equipment,and supplies while adhering to OSHA, infection prevention, and safetystandards.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and protecthealth information in accordance with HIPAA and organizational policies.

Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Current Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)certification from an accredited certifying organization required.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certificationthrough the American Heart Association or American Red Cross required.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in aphysician practice, outpatient clinic, community health center, or similarhealthcare setting preferred.
  • Experience working in a Federally QualifiedHealth Center (FQHC) or community health center preferred.
  • Experience using Electronic Health Record (EHR)systems preferred.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills are preferredbut not required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, clinicalprocedures, medication administration, and infection prevention practices.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and the abilityto maintain the confidentiality, security, and integrity of patientinformation.
  • Excellent customer service, communication, andinterpersonal skills with a commitment to providing compassionate,patient-centered care.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability toprioritize multiple responsibilities and maintain accurate documentation in afast-paced clinical environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ElectronicHealth Record (EHR) systems.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, respondappropriately in emergency situations, and establish effective workingrelationships with patients, providers, leadership, and coworkers.
