Job summary

Hackensack Meridian Health is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to support clinical care under supervision of a nurse or physician. The CMA will perform clerical tasks, coordinate pre-surgical testing, answer post-operative questions, and relay messages from providers.

The role involves assisting with exams, taking vital signs, and handling front desk duties. Training, teamwork, and compassionate patient communication are essential for success.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to interact effectively with varying populations.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of computerized processes and data entry.

Responsibilities

• Prepares exam room, treatment room, supplies and instruments.
• Prepares patients for physician visit and examination assisting as directed.
• Takes patient vital signs and records in medical chart.
• Performs EKG and basic lab testing as indicated.
• Maintains records by completing patient records as directed; file record and reports.
• Assists with collections/billing procedures as needed.
• Uses computer software to maintain office systems.
• Identifies and responds to confidentiality issues.
• Delivers care tailored to patient age, culture, and needs.
