Job summary

Pioneer Rheumatology in Oregon seeks a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) – Floater to join our patient care team. You will greet patients, prepare them for the provider, assist during visits, document in the EMR, and help at the front desk as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year Medical Assistant experience.

• Strong patient-care, documentation, and HIPAA compliance skills.

Responsibilities

• Greet and prepare patients for the healthcare provider with a positive, caring attitude.
• Monitor, track, and assist patients during office visits.
• Ensure patient privacy and HIPAA compliance.
• Record vital signs, height, weight, allergies, medications, and medical history in the EMR.
• Prepare, clean, and sterilize instruments; maintain exam rooms and equipment.
• Document plans of care and exam results in medical records.
• Answer phones, relay messages, and assist with front desk duties as needed.
• Assist with Infusion Suite as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job duties for this position include the following:

• Responsible for greeting and preparing patients for the health care provider while maintaining a positive and caring attitude.
• Responsible for monitoring, tracking and assisting patients during office visits.
• Responsible for patient safety and protection of patient privacy rights by observing HIPAA regulations.
• Obtains and accurately records patient information; vital signs, height, weight, allergies, current medications, and all medical history in the EMR.
• Responsible for updating charts and tracking paperwork to completion.
• Responsible for cleaning and preparing examination rooms, equipment, and tools per protocol.
• Accurately documents patient plan(s) of care, tests and examination results in the medical record as directed by the provider.
• Responsible for preparing, cleaning and sterilizing instruments and maintaining equipment; stock in patient exam rooms while maintaining cleanliness and organization and disposes of contaminated items according to protocol.
• Answers the phones, sends timely messages to the provider and refills medications as per guidelines stated in the clinic.
• Floats as Patient Services Representatives at the front desk as needed.
• Assists with the Infusion Suite as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

The qualifications for this role include the following:

• Successful completion of an Accredited National Certification Exam (i.e.: AAMA or AMT) for
• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA)
• One (1) year of Medical Assistant experience.
• High School degree or equivalent.
• Experience in a clinical setting.
• Experience and ability to navigate an EMR.
• Solid assessment, clinical, and documentation skills.
