Job summary

Northwest Asthma & Allergy Center in Seattle is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to support clinical operations at our Seattle location, ensuring smooth patient flow and high-quality care.

Responsibilities include rooming patients, taking vitals, and performing point-of-care testing for asthma and allergy care; the team maintains a 2:1 CMA to provider ratio.

Work hours are Monday–Friday 8:00 am–5:00 pm; compensation is $24.00 to $32.00 per hour plus benefits.

Qualifications

• Current Washington State CMA license.
• 7 hours AIDS/HIV training.
• CPR/First aid for healthcare professionals.
• Washington state insured Medical Assistant certification or registration proof.
• Proficiency with EMR/HER systems (Athena, Epic, GE or similar).
• Strong communication skills and ability to multitask.
• Team-oriented with willingness to gain a variety of skills.
• Experience in outpatient settings, preferably asthma/allergy/ENT/pediatrics/derm.

Responsibilities

• Check in patients, record vital signs, medication history, allergy verification, and symptoms; enter data into the EMR.
• Perform procedures as ordered by the provider.
• Educate patients on medications, care planning, disease processes, and home care; document messages in EMR.
• Take inventory of supplies and restock as needed; maintain sample medications and printed patient information.
• Prepare exam rooms for next patient.

Job Summary

The Certified Medical Assistant assists with clinical operations at our Seattle location to keep patient flow smooth and efficient while providing a high level of patient care. This role works with patients of all ages and assists with rooming patients, collecting vitals, and performing point-of-care testing associated with asthma and allergy care. Our office maintains a supportive and efficient working environment with a 2:1 CMA to provider ratio. Typically, our offices have 1-2 doctors, and each doctor sees between 14-22 patients per day. This structure ensures a balanced workload and allows for high-quality patient care.

Duties:

• Check in patients and record vital signs, medication history, drug allergy verification, review of symptoms list. Conduct preliminary test as appropriate based on the problem list or patient’s presenting symptoms. Enter all data into the EMR system.
• Perform procedures without error in a timely fashion as ordered by the provider.
• Responsible for patient education including but not limited to medications care planning, disease process understanding, environmental controls and device teaching. Document specific take home messages to the patient in the EMR system.
• Take inventory of supplies and re-stock as needed. Maintain sample medications, and printed information for patients.
• Turn exam room to prepare for next patient.

Requirements:

• Current Washington State CMA license
• Must have completed the 7 hours state mandated AIDS/HIV training program.
• CPR/First aid for healthcare professionals card.
• Washington state insured Medical Assistant certification or registration proof.
• Comprehension of EMR/HER recordkeeping system for delivery of healthcare. Prior experience on Athena, Epic, GE or other system is required.
• Self-motivation, empathy, and stellar interpersonal skills
• Excellent communication skills and ability to multitask
• Enthusiasm and desire to participate as a team member and gain a variety of technical skills
• A history of working in an outpatient setting, preferably in asthma/allergy, ENT, pediatric, or dermatology specialty offices
