Job summary

Theagapenetwork in Miami, FL is seeking a Medical Assistant to support the medical team by handling routine administrative and clinical tasks, ensuring the offices run smoothly and efficiently.

You will assist the registered nurse with appointments, take vital signs, prepare patients for exams, document in the EMR, manage supplies, and help with medication administration and infection-control protocols.

Qualifications

• Education and/or Experience: Associate of Science degree in medical assistance field and/or medical assistant certification, registered medical assistant, certified nursing assistant with a minimum of two years’ experience in medical office.

Responsibilities

• Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
• Maintains medical supplies inventory and performs preventative maintenance on medical equipment.
• Protects clients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and medication storage procedures.
• Assists register nurse with calling clients for appointments and for no shows.
• Administers medication to clients if needed and documents medication list and EMR notes.
• Prepares patients for examination by measuring vitals and recording patient history.
• Supports client independence by teaching self-care skills and addressing questions.
• Documents client care services in patient and department records.
• Keeps treatment team informed; communicates actions and needs.

• Maintains client confidentiality and protects operations.

Position Summary:

Assists the medical team restoring clients' health by performing routine administrative and clinical tasks to keep the offices of health practitioners running smoothly.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations, calling for assistance from direct care support personnel.
• Maintains medical supplies inventory and performs preventative maintenance to keep medical equipment operating.
• Protects clients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols, medication administration and storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations.
• Assists register nurse with calling clients for appointments and for no shows.
• Administers medication to clients if needed; updates and documents medication list and pharmacy of choice and notation on clients EMR record.
• Prepares patients for examination by performing preliminary test; taking blood pressure, weight, and temperature; and reporting patient history summary.
• Promotes clients’ independence by establishing client care goals; teaching client to understand condition, medications, and self-care skills; answering questions.
• Document’s client care services by charting in client and department records.
• Maintains continuity among treatment team by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
• Maintains a cooperative relationship among treatment team members by communicating information; responding to requests; building rapport; participating in team problem-solving methods.
• Maintains client confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential.
• Assist register nurse with office tasks and performs other duties as assigned.
