Job summary

Baptist Health is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) for the Heart & Valve Clinic in Lexington, KY. The full-time, first-shift role supports patient care in a hospital clinic setting, with a standard Monday–Friday schedule, 8:00 am–4:30 pm, and no weekend or holiday work.

The CMA will assist providers, monitor vitals, manage patient flow, perform injections and IV therapy when trained, draw blood, and conduct in-office tests as directed.

Qualifications

• Certified Medical Assistant with CMA certification required.
• BLS certification required or to be obtained within 30 days of hire.
• Minimum 2 years of medical office or clinical experience preferred.
• Strong patient care and safety practices essential.

Responsibilities

• Assist provider with patient care within scope and certification.
• Support efficient patient flow from waiting room to visit.
• Capture vital signs and current medications for provider review.
• Handle callbacks and prescription refills within scope.
• Administer medications, injections, and IV therapy as directed.
• Perform phlebotomy, EKGs, PFTs, spirometry, nebulizer treatments.
• Conduct in-office lab tests: glucose, urinalysis, HgA1c.
• Stock rooms and escort patients to locations as needed.

Job Description

• Assists provider with all tasks associated with patient care as requested, within their scope of practice and certification.
• Assists in the efficient flow of patients from the waiting room through their provider visit.
• Effectively captures data needed to facilitate the provider’s ability to efficiently evaluate patients including but not limited to vital signs and current medications.
• Handles patient call backs and prescription refills within the scope of certification for this position.
• Administers medication and injections as directed by the provider.
• Administers IV therapy as directed by the provider, if within scope of training.
• Able to perform phlebotomy.
• Performs EKGs, PFTs, spirometry, nebulizer treatments, and other procedures appropriate to level of training and within the scope of the certifications of this position.
• Performs in office lab testing such as, glucose testing, urinalysis, and HgA1c as directed by the provider.
• Stocks rooms and helps monitor supplies as needed.
• Escort or transport patients to various hospital locations while maintaining patient safety and privacy.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Current Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification required.
• Minimum of 2 years of medical office or clinical experience preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
• If not already certified, applicants must obtain BLS within 30 days of their hire date.
