Job summary

Wellpath in Indiana is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to support nursing staff, gather patient information, and assist with daily clinical tasks in a patient‑centered environment.

You will collaborate with RNs, maintain infection control practices, and help ensure high‑quality care while maintaining compassionate, non‑judgmental patient interactions.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of an accredited CMA course.
• Minimum of one year of clinical experience preferred.
• Current Medical Assistant certification as required by state laws or facility.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with RNs and healthcare staff, implementing established policies and procedures to ensure the delivery of quality patient care.
• Gather patient history, verify medications, and make appropriate referrals for follow-up.
• Adhere to designated work schedules, respond to codes or patient crises per site policies, and assist healthcare practitioners as assigned.
• Prioritize infection control techniques and ensure patient comfort and safety.
• Maintain working areas, supplies, and equipment, and attend mandatory staff meetings/training.

How you make a difference

As a Certified Medical Assistant, you will play a crucial role in patient care by gathering essential information during the clinical process under the supervision of Registered Nurses. Your responsibilities include assisting nurses in various activities, leveraging your education and demonstrated competencies to contribute effectively to the healthcare team. This role demands a commitment to supporting the delivery of high-quality patient care while collaborating closely with the nursing staff.

Key Responsibilities

• Prioritize infection control techniques and principles, contributing to the emotional and physical comfort and safety of patients.
• Maintain working areas, supplies, and equipment, attending mandatory staff meetings/training to uphold a high standard of healthcare delivery and professional development.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education

• Successful completion of an accredited CMA course.

Experience

• Minimum of one year of clinical experience preferred.

Licenses/Certifications

• Currently certified as a Medical Assistant in the State if certification is required by the State or the facility.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain CPR certification if required.
