Job summary

Medical Associates Plus in Augusta, GA is hiring a Certified Medical Assistant to support patient care in our outpatient clinic. You will perform clinical, administrative, and technical tasks under supervision, handling vital signs, documentation, and coordinated referrals.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Completion of accredited Medical Assistant program required; certification through AAMA, AMT, or NCCT preferred.
• Current CPR/BLS certification preferred.
• Additional training in phlebotomy, EKGs, pharmacology, and diagnostic testing preferred.
• Minimum of one year of outpatient/primary care experience preferred.
• Experience using electronic health record systems and standard office software is strongly preferred.
• Experience working with diverse patient populations and collaborating within a multidisciplinary care team preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist providers with direct patient care, including vital signs, patient histories, and clinical procedures.
• Administer medications as ordered by a physician or mid-level provider.
• Perform venipuncture, EKGs, IV starts (as allowed under supervision), and other diagnostic procedures.
• Document care accurately in the electronic health record (EHR) and maintain organized patient records.
• Provide patient education, discharge instructions, and assist with coordination of referrals and follow-up care.
• Monitor patients for clinical changes and report concerns to the provider promptly.
• Maintain medical equipment, ensure exam rooms are properly stocked, and report safety or equipment issues.
• Uphold infection control standards and comply with OSHA, HIPAA, and other regulatory requirements.
• Support quality improvement and customer service initiatives.
• Communicate professionally with patients, staff, and external contacts.
• Promotes the principles of healthcare integration and the Patient-Centered Medical Home.
• Maintain punctual and reliable attendance to meet department needs.

Position Summary

The Certified Medical Assistant supports the delivery of patient care in an outpatient setting by performing clinical, administrative, and technical tasks under the supervision of a licensed provider. • Knowledge of clinical procedures, medical terminology, and patient care practices in an outpatient setting.
• Knowledge of infection prevention and control, OSHA standards, and safe clinical practices.
• Knowledge of HIPAA, patient confidentiality requirements, and healthcare compliance standards.
• Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems, documentation requirements, and clinical workflows.
• Knowledge of medication administration principles, vaccine protocols, and basic pharmacology.
• Understanding of patient flow processes, care coordination, and customer service principles.
• Knowledge of quality improvement practices and Patient-Centered Medical Home concepts.

Education

• High school diploma or GED required.

Physical Demands
