Primary Care Associates in Appleton, WI is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to support an Internal Medicine physician four days a week. You will greet patients, room them, and assist with procedures in a busy clinic.

The role requires CMA or RMA certification or eligibility within 3 months, current BLS, EPIC experience, and strong communication, organization, and teamwork. Flexibility and the ability to work under pressure are essential.

Qualifications

Working with an Internal Medicine Physician four days a week, day off is Thursday.

DEPARTMENT: Nursing

REPORTS TO: Director of Nursing

SUMMARY: The Certified Medical Assistant is responsible for performing and assisting physician with patient care in an office setting.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Greets and escorts patients to exam rooms.
  • Rooms patient utilizing rooming standards and sets up exam room accordingly.
  • Interviews patients, measures vital signs such as pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight and height; and records information on patients’ charts.
  • Gives injections and other medications under physician supervision, when applicable.
  • Instructs patients regarding preparation for tests and procedures.
  • Records laboratory, x-ray, ECG results and other pertinent medical data in patients’ charts.
  • Handles incoming and outgoing mail, making sure the doctors sees all necessary information.
  • Cleans and stocks exam rooms including monthly instrument cleaning, sterilization of instruments and refilling of supplies, as necessary.
  • Handles patient telephone calls as directed by Triage Nurse.
  • Screens patient telephone calls to physician, and calls patients to relay advice, information and instructions from physician.
  • Calls in prescriptions and refills to pharmacies under physician direction.
  • Schedules special appointments (i.e. referrals, surgeries, x-ray, and lab).
  • Assesses and schedules appointments for patients.
  • Speaks to callers, patients, physicians, other staff and anyone they interact with during their assigned work hours in a polite, courteous, understandable manner that projects Primary Care Associates interest in providing high quality customer service.
  • Completes assigned duties in a timely, accurate manner.
  • Demonstrates a team spirit through cooperative, supportive professional work relationships.
  • Assists with procedures completed by provider.
  • Abstracts medical information on patient into the EMR.
  • Complies with company policies and procedures.
  • Maintains a regular and reliable level of attendance.
  • Maintains confidentiality of patient information.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Certificates, licenses and registrations required:
  • Credentialed as a CMA or RMA, or eligible to obtain certification within 3 months of hire if new graduate.
  • Must maintain current BLS for healthcare certification.
  • Computer skills required:
  • Payroll system; EPIC software
  • Other skills required:
  • Previous experience in a medical office setting preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, physiology and anatomy.
  • Pleasant and effective communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work well with all customers of Primary Care Associates.
  • Ability to function as a part of a team with a cooperative attitude.
  • Ability to prioritize and work efficiently.
  • Able to work under pressure and in a fast pace environment.
  • Must have flexibility in work schedule.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • Continually required to stand, walk, bend, stoop, talk or hear.
  • Continually required to utilize hand and finger dexterity.
  • Continually exposed to bloodborne and airborne pathogens or infectious materials.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds independently.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include:close vision; distance vision; color vision; peripheral vision; depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Specialized equipment, machines, or vehicles used: POCT machines (Cepheid;Glucometer).
