Job summary

Southern Health Partners Inc. seeks a Medication Technician to support pharmacy operations within a correctional facility.

Under supervision of the Medical Team Administrator, you will assist with medication delivery, preparation, and ordering, and you will handle physician orders daily to ensure timely patient care. You will replenish OTC medications, prepackage and label items, and monitor all controlled substances with strict adherence to security policies.

Qualifications

• CPR certification required.
• Medication Technician Certification required.
• High School Diploma required.
• Experience in a medical/pharmacy setting is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Operates SHP pharmacy duties under supervision of Medical Team Administrator.
• Assists in delivering, preparing, and ordering medication at the facility.
• Picks up new physician orders each day and maintains records.
• Replenishes OTC medications in the med cart daily.
• Prepackages and labels OTC medications when applicable.
• Discontinues and returns medications for released inmates.
• Maintains security for controlled substances, syringes, and needles.
• Distributes medications during assigned med pass times.
• Keeps narcotics, general drugs, and biologicals dispensing records accurate.
• Maintains the pharmacy area in a clean, orderly condition.
• Reports incidents of improper drug use and performs other duties as required.
