Boater’s World Marine Centers in Lake Placid, FL, is seeking an experienced Certified Marine Technician / Master Technician to join our high-volume Service Department. You’ll own difficult repairs, diagnose complex mechanical and electrical issues, and work with OEM tools and manuals.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional marine technician experience required.
• Current or previous OEM marine technician certifications strongly preferred.
• A-Tech, Master Technician, or equivalent high-level dealership experience strongly preferred.
• Advanced diagnostic and troubleshooting capabilities required.
• Experience with Mercury, Yamaha, Suzuki, Honda, MerCruiser or similar major brands.

Responsibilities

• Independently diagnose complex mechanical, electrical, fuel, cooling, steering, trim, charging, and performance-related concerns.
• Utilize OEM diagnostic software, scan tools, service manuals, wiring diagrams, and manufacturer troubleshooting procedures.
• Interpret fault codes, engine history, live data, compression results, electrical readings, and other diagnostic information.
• Troubleshoot intermittent or difficult concerns and identify root causes rather than replace components.
• Perform water testing and sea trials when necessary to verify repairs.
• Provide accurate repair recommendations based on diagnostic findings.
• Perform repairs on modern outboard engines and related systems.
• Complete repairs to OEM specifications and dealership quality standards.
• Document procedures, test results, and parts usage in Lightspeed.

A-Techs & Master Technicians Can Earn $100K+

Boater’s World Marine Centers is actively seeking an experienced Certified Marine Technician / Master Technician to join our high-volume Service Department in Lake Placid, FL.

This position is specifically designed for an established, high-level marine technician with strong diagnostic capabilities and manufacturer training or certifications. We’re looking for someone who can take ownership of difficult repairs, accurately diagnose complex mechanical and electrical concerns, and complete work efficiently with minimal supervision.

Our Lake Placid location is our flagship Florida dealership, creating consistent service volume and an opportunity for an experienced technician to maximize both their skills and earning potential.

What You’ll Do

Advanced Diagnostics & Troubleshooting

• Independently diagnose complex mechanical, electrical, fuel, cooling, steering, trim, charging, and performance-related concerns.
• Utilize OEM diagnostic software, scan tools, service manuals, wiring diagrams, and manufacturer troubleshooting procedures.
• Interpret fault codes, engine history, live data, compression results, electrical readings, and other diagnostic information.
• Troubleshoot intermittent or difficult concerns and identify the root cause rather than simply replacing components.
• Perform water testing and sea trials when necessary to duplicate concerns and verify completed repairs.
• Provide accurate repair recommendations based on diagnostic findings.

Marine Engine Service & Repair

• Perform minor and major repairs on modern outboard engines.
• Service and repair Mercury, Yamaha, Suzuki, Honda, and other major marine engine platforms.
• Perform scheduled maintenance, inspections, tune-ups, and preventative service.
• Repair fuel, cooling, ignition, charging, steering, trim, control, and electrical systems.
• Complete repairs according to OEM specifications and dealership quality standards.
• Perform final quality checks to minimize comebacks and ensure repairs are completed correctly the first time.

Rigging, Repowers & Installations

• Perform outboard engine installations and complete repowers.
• Diagnose and repair rigging-related concerns.
• Install and configure controls, steering systems, gauges, batteries, wiring, and related components.
• Install marine electronics and accessories when required.
• Verify proper engine setup and overall vessel performance following installation.

Technical Leadership & Shop Support

• Assist with difficult diagnostic cases and provide technical guidance to developing technicians when appropriate.
• Work closely with Service Advisors and Parts personnel to communicate diagnostic findings and required repairs.
• Identify additional legitimate service opportunities based on inspections and diagnostic findings.
• Maintain strong productivity while protecting workmanship and repair quality.
• Contribute to a professional, accountable, and team-oriented Service Department.

Repair Orders & Documentation

• Accurately document diagnostic procedures, test results, repairs, parts usage, and recommendations in Lightspeed.
• Maintain complete repair-order notes clearly identifying the customer concern, cause, and correction.
• Follow OEM and dealership warranty documentation requirements.
• Communicate additional repair or parts needs promptly to minimize unnecessary delays.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional marine technician experience required.
• Current or previous OEM marine technician certifications strongly preferred.
• A-Tech, Master Technician, or equivalent high-level dealership experience strongly preferred.
• Advanced diagnostic and troubleshooting capabilities required.
• Strong experience with modern outboard engines.
• Experience with Mercury, Yamaha, Suzuki, Honda, MerCruiser, or similar major marine brands.
• Strong knowledge of marine electrical, fuel, cooling, steering, charging, control, and rigging systems.
• Experience using OEM diagnostic software, scan tools, multimeters, compression testers, and manufacturer service information.
• Experience performing major repairs, rigging, and repowers.
• Ability to independently manage difficult repairs from diagnosis through completion.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to minimizing comebacks.
• Dependable, productive, and comfortable working in a high-volume dealership environment.
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.

Schedule

• Full-time position
• Monday through Saturday
• Sundays always off
• One weekday off
