Job summary

The Y in Central Maryland in Pasadena, MD is hiring Lifeguards to oversee pool safety during operating hours. You will monitor swimmers, enforce rules, respond to emergencies, and maintain pool area hygiene, reporting issues as needed.

Qualifications include current Lifeguard certification, CPR/AED/First Aid (O2 within 30 days), successful swim test, and flexible availability including evenings and weekends. Training and a commitment to inclusivity are expected.

• Support YMCA programs and communicate the organization’s mission to members and families.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Position Summary

Under the supervision of the Swim Director or other assigned associate, Lifeguard is responsible for the safety, cleanliness, and operation of the swimming pool during operating hours. The primary function of the Lifeguard will be to safeguard the health and safety of members, class participants, and guests; and enforce guidelines and safety policies.

Physical Demands

• Will be required to walk, stand, kneel, stoop, push, and lift up to 50 pounds.
• While performing duties the employee may occasionally work in the outside weather conditions, and is exposed to wet, cold and /or humid conditions.
• Must be physically able to work in a hot and humid environment with moderate physical exercise.
• Continuous operations requiring attention to detail and multi-tasking.
• Will be exposed to cleaning supplies.
• Must be able to stand or sit for long periods of time.
• Must be physically able to successfully complete required certifications.
• Pool safety and instructional equipment, some computer skills required
