Mayo Clinic in Minnesota is seeking a Hemodialysis Technician to join the Dialysis Services team. You will work under the supervision of an RN to support direct patient care, operate dialysis equipment, monitor water treatment, and assist with specimens and tests as part of the care team.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, six months of dialysis tech experience, and completion of relevant certifications. Flexible hours and a nonexempt, full-time schedule are offered.

Qualificações

• Successful completion of Ishihara color blindness test.
• Excellent communication skills and computer literacy.
• Ability to work flexible hours including days, evenings, nights, holidays and weekends.
• Maintains current Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers from approved programs.
• Successful completion of clinical hemodialysis technician national certification exam within 18 months of hire.

Responsibilities

Location: NE Clinic

TheHemodialysisTechnicianfunctionsasaninterdisciplinaryteammembertomeetpatientandfamilycareneedswithintheMayoClinic Dialysis Services (MCDS) system. Under the supervision of the RN, is responsible for providing assistance in the provision of dialysis services through multiple roles. These roles include but are not limited to: direct patient care and observations, basic hemodialysis techniques and procedures, equipment maintenance, water treatment monitoring, vascular access monitoring, cleaning and disinfection of the hemodialysis machine, drawing blood samples and preparing them for transport, and performing both simple and complex laboratory tests and the required quality controls. Participation in quality improvement activities to maintain patient care standards is also expected. The Hemodialysis Technician carries out designated skills that are within these functions limited by law to unlicensed nursing personnel, as written into the policies and procedures of Mayo Clinic.

The Dialysis Technician is responsible for providing specialized care for patients undergoing dialysis at Mayo Clinic. The Tech works with a Registered Nurse to provide basic dialysis care, including starting and stopping treatment, caring for patients during treatment, and maintaining dialysis equipment to ensure patient safety. The Dialysis Technician will perform other tasks as delegated by the RN or supervisor, which may include additional patient care tasks and supply inventory management.These responsibilities require attention to detail and the ability to follow written instructions. The Dialysis Technician is an integral member of the health care team in dialysis.

Qualifications

HighSchooldiplomaorequivalentrequired. Six months of experience as a Clinical Hemodialysis Technician required.Before employment, successful completion of the Ishihara's color blindness test.

Ability to effectively work with multiple team members including working at/floating to other dialysis units. Ability to adapt to unpredictable situations within the work setting.

MaintainscurrentBasicLifeSupportforHealthCareProvidersfromoneofthefollowingprograms:AmericanHeartAssociation(BLS for Healthcare Providers). Red Cross (CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and Health Care Providers) Military Training Network. Successful completion of Clinical Hemodialysis Technician national certification exam, within 18 months of hire when hired after October 14, 2008. Exam offered by BONENT or NNCC.
