Brown & Root Industrial Services is seeking a Certified Journeyman to join our hazardous materials abatement team in Louisiana. The role requires NCCER certifications and involves identifying, removing, packing, transporting, or disposing of hazardous materials on plant sites.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with experience in the field.
• Knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within the field.
• Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform tasks; under supervision.

Responsibilities

• Follow prescribed safety procedures and comply with federal laws regulating waste disposal methods.
• Record numbers of containers stored at disposal sites and specify amounts and types of equipment and waste disposed.
• Operate machines and equipment to remove, package, store, or transport loads of waste materials.
• Load and unload materials into containers and onto trucks using hoists or forklifts.
• Clean contaminated equipment or areas for re-use using detergents and solvents, sandblasters, filter pumps, or steam cleaners.
• Construct scaffolding or containment areas prior to abatement or decontamination work.
• Remove asbestos and/or lead from surfaces using hand and power tools such as scrapers, vacuums, and high-pressure sprayers.
