Job summary

Salem Five is seeking a seasoned Financial Planner to join our Reading, MA office. You will provide comprehensive planning advice for banking and non-banking clients, create detailed financial plans, and present investment strategies to our advisory team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with a financial/business concentration or 5-7 years of related financial services experience.
  • Strong MS Word and Excel skills; ability to communicate clearly in writing and speech.
  • Experience with financial planning software (E-money, MoneyGuide) and investment analysis tools (Morningstar).
  • Experience with Salesforce.com is a plus; adherence to confidentiality and professionalism.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provides comprehensive financial planning advice to both banking and non-banking clients in such a way as to provide unbiased financial recommendations to all types of clients. Should be perceived as a knowledgeable and trusted advisor on matters relating to investment planning, retirement planning, education funding planning, and estate planning. Should be able to provide clients a detailed analysis of their needs as well as a strategy to implement this plan.
  • Responsible for working with Financial Advisors to convert customer profiles into customized in-depth financial plans and portfolio reviews.
  • Must have experience with financial planning software (E-money, Money guide) as well as investment analysis software (Morningstar, etc.).
  • Analyze and model clients current financial track and evaluate their current investment holdings in relation to underlying plan.
  • Research and recommend additional banking products and services.
  • Develop deliverable plan for client presentation. Independently assess and clearly communicate appropriate recommendations on both strategy and products to the financial consultant. Collaborate with the advisor to finalize planning/investment recommendations for the client.
  • Meet with prospective/existing clients when needed to deliver planning presentation as needed.
  • Works in conjunction with the broker/dealer firm LPL Financial, and is responsible for maintaining a high degree of professional and ethical behavior. Financial recommendations to clients should be performed in a manner so as to be in compliance with all state, federal, SEC, and other regulatory agencies.
  • Perform due diligence and research on various investments (funds, ETF’s, Equities, Bonds, Annuities, Alternatives) and report findings. Analyze existing investment portfolios for advisors and make appropriate recommendations on changes or strategy.
  • Help create and maintain investment models based on both LPL and third-party research.
  • Utilize LPL technology to assist advisors in trading re-balancing client accounts. Monitor for potential trading opportunities such as tax loss harvesting, portfolio manager/fund changes, as well as performance and fee related opportunities.
  • Generate, maintain and monitor various internal reports for both timeliness and accuracy (fund flows, activity reporting, client performance etc).
  • Work with internal marketing and external 3rd party vendors to create, maintain and enhance client deliverables, including but not limited to LPL Clientworks, E-Money, Morningstar, etc.
  • Demonstrates compliance with banking laws and regulations as defined in company. policies and procedures pertinent to position.
  • Regular attendance is essential to this position.
  • Assumes additional responsibilities as requested.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelors Degree with a financial/business concentration or a minimum of 5-7 years of related financial services experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Additionally, demonstrated Microsoft applications skills (Word and Excel), verbal/written communication skills, ability to perform effectively in an environment where confidentiality, maturity, sound judgment, initiative, and professionalism are required. Prior experience with financial planning software and Morningstar analysis required; experience with Salesforce.com a plus. Outstanding communication skills as evidenced by the ability to understand financial data and communicate it in "lay man's" terms to all types of clients effectively is a must.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

CFP required. Appropriate securities licenses (Series 7, 65, or 66) and insurance licensing.

Salary Range

$90,000 - $125,000 plus commission

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, and performance. This range may be modified in the future.
