Job summary

Pullman Regional Hospital is seeking a Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES) to deliver comprehensive DSMES across its outpatient clinics in Pullman, WA. You will work with endocrinology and primary care teams to improve outcomes and patient self-management.

The role requires CDCES, an active license, a bachelor’s degree, and 2–3 years of diabetes care experience. Knowledge of CGM, insulin pumps, literature guidelines, and EHR documentation is essential.

Qualifications

  • Current certification as a Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES).
  • Active, unrestricted clinical license in a qualifying discipline (e.g., RN, RD/RDN, PharmD/RPh, NP, PA).
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred as an advanced credential.
  • Minimum of 2–3 years of experience in diabetes care, education, or chronic disease management.
  • Strong knowledge of current diabetes guidelines and standards of care.
  • Experience with diabetes technologies (CGM, insulin pumps, smart pens).
  • Proficiency in EHR systems and care documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individualized and group diabetes self-management education and support across outpatient clinics.
  • Assess patient needs, readiness to change, health literacy, and barriers to care.
  • Support newly diagnosed patients and those with uncontrolled diabetes in collaboration with primary care.
  • Develop personalized care and education plans and educate on medication management.
  • Train patients on diabetes technology including CGM and insulin delivery systems.
  • Collaborate with physicians, pharmacists, dietitians, and care managers across sites.
  • Monitor progress, adjust care plans, and document in the EHR for regulatory compliance.

This role partners with interdisciplinary care teams to improve clinical outcomes, enhance patient self-management, and reduce complications associated with diabetes and related conditions.
