Job summary

Job Description

Our Houma clinic is looking to hire a Certified Dental Assistant to join the team,

Minimum Requirements
  • Certified Dental Assistant and/or EDDA Certification in Louisiana
  • Over 18 years of age
  • Valid driver's license
  • Current CPR certification
  • Prior dental assisting experience preferred

Job Duties / Skills Required
  • Prepare patients and treatment rooms for dental procedures by following required procedures and protocols.
  • Prepare and provide dental instrumentation by sterilizing, organizing, and delivering instruments to the treatment area; properly positioning instruments for the dentist’s access; managing suction; and efficiently passing instruments during procedures.
  • Prepare and apply dental materials by selecting, mixing, and placing them on instruments and directly into the patient’s mouth as needed during procedures.
  • Assist dentist during treatment using proper instruments and techniques.
  • Perform X-rays and process diagnostic studies.
  • Provide diagnostic support by exposing and developing radiographic images, as well as pouring, trimming, and polishing study models.
  • Educate patients on oral hygiene and post-operative care.
  • Maintain infection control and safety protocols.
  • Accurately and promptly documents all client services in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
  • Assist the dentist in managing dental and medical emergencies by maintaining current CPR certification, ensuring readiness of emergency drugs and oxygen supplies, and keeping direct access to emergency communication devices.
  • Attend team meetings and contribute to treatment planning.
  • Perform additional duties or responsibilities as assigned by clinical leadership in response to organizational needs.
