Metra is recruiting for a Certified Conductor this spring for roles in Waukegan, Harvard, Crystal Lake, Elburn, and Kenosha. The position features a semi-monthly guaranteed salary with a minimum monthly range and potential for higher pay after training.

Starting pay is guaranteed on a semi-monthly basis, with a monthly minimum between $8,128.80 and $10,838.40, depending on years of service. A $15,000 signing bonus is offered and adds to earnings potential.

Qualifikationen

• High school degree or GED or railroad experience.
• Ability to submit work reports using electronic device(s).
• Ability to read and understand all instructions including operating and safety rules, bulletins, special instructions, and federal regulatory documents.
• Proficient verbal and written communication skills to deliver information to coworker(s), supervisor(s), railroad employees, and customers.

Aufgaben

• Ensure seven days per week availability.
• Work without regular days off unless assigned.
• Work hours vary based on seniority and assignments.
• Work outside in all weather conditions at yard facilities and during switching operations.
• Perform train inspections, couple/uncouple, read switches, and engage in safe train movement.
• Communicate information to crew, dispatchers, and customers.
• Collect and remit ticket sale monies as part of fare collection.
