Responsibilities

• Abstract information from patient records and assign ICD-CM/ICD-PCS codes and MS-DRG groups.
• Coordinate with CDS and physicians to validate documentation for accurate coding.
• Query discrepancies in documentation or coding in EMR when needed.
• Stay current with coding guidelines, reimbursement and reporting requirements.
• Ensure coding accuracy rate meets department goals.
