Naples Comprehensive Health is seeking a Certified Clinical Athletic Trainer for the Orthopedic Sports Medicine program in Naples, FL. You’ll work under physician supervision on clinical operations, patient care, and education.

Responsibilities include intake, chart prep, vitals, wound care, and assisting with procedures. Requires Florida AT license, NATABOC, BLS, and EMR experience. Full-time, 8-hour day schedule, local travel may be required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field required; Master's Degree preferred.
  • Licensed as a Certified Athletic Trainer in Florida.
  • Certification as an Athletic Trainer by NATABOC required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • One year orthopedic clinical experience preferred.
  • Current, valid Florida driver’s license and background check required.
  • Ability to obtain ASOP Registered Orthopedic Technologist within 6 months of hire.
  • Basic computer knowledge to operate a PC and input data.

Responsibilities

  • Perform clinical skills within the scope of a certified athletic trainer.
  • Assist with medication preparation as directed by physician.
  • Answer incoming patient calls and transcribe messages for physician review.
  • Assist with chart preparation and obtain study reports for physician review.
  • Maintain clinic supplies and a clean, orderly area.
  • Escort patients to exam rooms and conduct intake for musculoskeletal cases.
  • Enter patient information into the EMR and conduct initial orthopedic assessments.
  • Present patient cases to the physician or physician assistant.
  • Assist with office procedures, patient education, and material preparation.
  • Provide occasional sports medicine event coverage as needed.

Job Summary

The Certified Clinical Athletic Trainer supports the Orthopedic Sports Medicine program by working under the direct supervision of the of the physician in the area of clinical operation, patient care, and education.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Other duties may be assigned.

  • Perform clinical skills and delegated tasks within the scope of practice of a certified athletic trainer.
  • Performs accuracy in medication preparation as directed by physician.
  • Assists with incoming patient calls and transcribes patient messages to discuss with the physician.
  • Assist with chart preparation and obtain study reports and progress notes for physician review.
  • Maintains clinic supplies.
  • Maintains a clean and orderly clinical area.
  • Escorts patients to the exam room.
  • Conducts patient intake for a variety of medical and musculoskeletal conditions including entering information into the EMR.
  • Conducts initial assessment of the patient with orthopedic pathology.
  • Presents the patient case to the physician or physician assistant.
  • Performs clinical responsibilities under the supervision of the physician which may include, taking vitals, phlebotomy, application and removal of casts and splints, wound care, suture removal, fitting DME, gait training, and patient education.
  • As directed by the physician, instruct patients on prescribed home exercise program.
  • Assist physician within office procedures including patient education, obtaining patient consent, preparation of materials and supplies, and assisting physician with patient positioning.
  • Provides occasional sports medicine event coverage as needed.
Education, Experience And Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in related field required; Master's Degree preferred.
  • Licensed as a Certified Athletic Trainer in the State of Florida.
  • Certification as an Athletic Trainer by the National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification (NATABOC) required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
  • One year of Orthopedic Clinical work experience preferred.
  • Current, valid Florida Driver's license that passes the Motor Vehicle Department background check required.
  • Clearance of a Level II Background Check from the Collier County Public Schools.
  • Ability to obtain American Society of Orthopedic Professionals Registered Orthopedic Technologist certification within 6 months of hire.
  • Basic computer knowledge: ability to operate a PC, create/save/print documents, input data.
