Job description

Job Summary

CSA Group is seeking a Certification Specialist – HVAC who possesses strong knowledge of HVAC industry requirements and substantial experience with relevant product standards, including UL 60335‑2‑40 and related CSA, UL, and IEC standards. The role focuses on delivering high‑quality certification, testing, and field evaluation services that meet client needs efficiently and effectively while ensuring safe products are available in the marketplace.

Responsibilities
  • Manage certification projects concurrently, ensuring completion within timeframes and cost deadlines to achieve revenue targets.
  • Evaluate products against national and international standards and precedent decisions, and make technical decisions, authorizing the application of the CSA Mark.
  • Conduct facility and construction assessments, collaborate with laboratory staff for test planning, and review and analyse test data.
  • Prepare, sign, and submit certification reports and certificates of compliance.
  • Provide technical briefings, training, and support to internal teams, external customers, network partners, and subcontracted laboratories.
  • Participate in technical networks, panels, committees, and support international standards development.
  • Continuously seek efficiencies and improvements in laboratory operations, processes, and equipment, documenting productivity gains.
  • Support Category and Notified Body activities, review reports, and conduct audits when required.
  • Communicate project status and compliance issues to management, ensuring alignment with CSA’s certification programs.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a relevant technological discipline, with Professional Engineer registration, and at least 6 years of professional experience, or a 3‑year college diploma with equivalent experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of CSA, UL, and IEC standards, particularly HVAC‑related test procedures and UL 60335‑2‑40 Fourth Edition.
  • Leadership and management skills, strong problem‑solving and detail orientation.
  • Proficient computer skills, including word processing and keyboarding.
  • Strong organizational, time‑management, and project‑management abilities.
  • Ability to work unsupervised and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
