Job summary

Care New England is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to support pharmacists in preparing, dispensing and maintaining medication inventories within a hospital setting. The role emphasizes patient confidentiality and accurate record-keeping.

You will participate in infection control, quality assurance activities, and day-to-day operations of the Infusion Center, while rotating shifts including days, evenings, nights, and every other weekend/holiday.

Qualifications

  • High School graduate with pharmacy experience or hospital-based training leading to certification as a Pharmacy Technician.
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPHT) via the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board and RI Tech II license are required.
  • Rotating shifts including days, evenings, and nights; every other weekend and holiday availability is necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Assists pharmacists in preparing, dispensing and maintaining inventory of drugs and medications.
  • Fills, checks and delivers medication orders.
  • Audits and distributes controlled substances.
  • Maintains infection control standards and QA documentation.
  • Maintains patient records and creates reports for department records.
  • Assists in day-to-day operations of the Infusion Center.

Job description

Job Summary

The Pharmacy Technician assists in providing quality pharmacy services to hospital staff and patients. Assists pharmacists in preparing, dispensing and maintaining inventory of drugs and medications. Provides support in daily operations, such as maintaining patient records, creating reports, labeling medication and auditing controlled substances. Ensures that infection control and Quality Assurance standards.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Demonstrates competency, individually and as part of the multidisciplinary team, in performing clinical care and assessment of all patient populations
  • Assists in the preparation of drug compounds and solutions.
  • Fills, checks and delivers medication orders.
  • Audits and distributes controlled substances.
  • Maintains departmental infection control standards.
  • Creates various reports and documents in support of department record-keeping.
  • Completes labeling requirements for medication.
  • Participates in Quality Assurance activities.
  • Assists in the management of pharmacy inventory.
  • Assists in day-to-day operations of the Infusion Center.
  • Maintains professional competency.
  • Protects and preserves patient rights to confidentiality.
  • Performs other job-related duties as requested by supervisor.
Requirements

High School graduate with experience in pharmacy and familiarity with drug usage, or completion of a hospital-based training program leading to certification as a Pharmacy Technician. Must be certified through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board with the CPHT certification and licensed through the RI Board ofPharmacy as a Tech II. Must be available for rotating shifts including days, evenings, and nights as well as available every other weekend and every other holiday. Must have experience in working with computers, possess good interpersonal skills, and beproficient in the English language.
