Job summary

JPS Health Network seeks a Certified Anesthesia Technician I-IV for the Evening shift at the JPS Patient Care Pavilion. You will support anesthesia teams, maintain equipment, and assist with perioperative procedures, under supervision.

This role is in PERIOP, hours Mon-Fri 3p-11p, at the Pavillion location. Required qualifications include a high school diploma, ASATT anesthesia certification, and BCLS certification, plus completion of orientation within 90 days.

Qualifications

• ASATT anesthesia certification maintained.
• BCLS certification maintained.
• Unit orientation within 90 days of hire.
• Certification levels I–IV reflect years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates medication and equipment throughout anesthesia operations.
• Maintains, tests, and calibrates anesthesia delivery systems.
• Monitors anesthesia levels and administers agents as directed by anesthesiologist.
• Assists anesthesia providers with patient assessments, transport, positioning, and airway management.
• Supports continuing education and program development for technicians.
• Performs data collection and process-improvement activities as needed.

Job Summary: The Certified Anesthesia Technician I-IV practices within the defined scope established by the American Society of Anesthesia Technologists and Technicians (ASATT). This position performs duties and responsibilities as delegated by and under the supervision of licensed anesthesia providers, in accordance with institutional policies, applicable laws, regulations, and ASATT standards of practice. The Tech demonstrates competency in providing perioperative anesthesia support, ensuring patient safety, maintaining equipment, and assisting with anesthesia-related procedures consistent with their training, certification, and regulatory scope of practice.

Essential Job Functions & Accountabilities:

• Coordinates medication and equipment throughout anesthesia operations.
• Maintains, tests, and calibrates anesthesia delivery systems.
• Controls and monitors anesthesia levels during procedures as directed by an anesthesiologist. Administers anesthetic, adjuvant, or drugs as directed by an anesthesiologist.
• Assists the licensed anesthesia provider with patient assessments, evaluations, transport, positioning, insertion of intravenous and other invasive lines, and airway management.
• Actively participates in the development and/or administration of continuing education for Anesthesia Technicians.
• Performs administrative duties that may include employee scheduling, assisting with evaluations and program development, and reviewing service agreements.
• Performs point-of-care testing in accordance with hospital policy.
• Assists in monitoring adequate availability and stocking of supplies and equipment according to the established PAR level.
• Performs clerical functions as required and collects data for unit-specific process improvement as needed.
• Works independently with guidance in only the most complex situations.
• May lead multiple projects and is accountable for ongoing objectives.
• Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience.
• Organizes and coordinates the use of anesthesia support personnel.

• Completion of unit orientation competencies within 90 days of hire.

• 4726 Certified Anesthesia Tech II: 2-4.99 years of relevant experience.
• 4727 Certified Anesthesia Tech III: 5-9.99 years of relevant experience.
• 4728 Certified Anesthesia Tech IV: 10+ years of relevant experience.
