Job summary

Attleboro Arts Museum seeks a qualified ceramic instructor for its 6-week winter schedule (Jan–Feb 2027). The role focuses on wheel-throwing and hand-building with classes for K-3 and 4-8 on Saturdays.

You will design and demonstrate projects, manage demonstrations, and adapt lessons to different ages. Independent contractor position; candidates must have kiln experience, reliable transportation, and strong communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred (concentration in Ceramics, 3-D Art, etc.)
• 2-3 years teaching experience
• Must be proficient in hand-building and the pottery wheel. Instructors develop lesson plans with Coordinator approval.
• Must be comfortable firing a kiln during business and off-hours with kiln access
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for interaction with students and families.
• Instructors must have a car.

Responsibilities

• Create and implement art curriculum and demonstrations for children and tweens.
• Lead hands-on clay classes on Saturdays with wheel-throwing and hand-building projects.
• Develop engaging, project-based lessons suitable for grades K-3 and 4-8.
• Demonstrate techniques and supervise students in a classroom setting.
