Job summary

Hormel Foods Family of Companies is seeking a Remote Centralized Transportation Dispatch specialist to manage load dispatch and tendering across customer, co-pack, and inbound purchasing loads.

The role collaborates with logistics, scheduling, and plant locations to secure equipment and ensure timely, cost-efficient movement of products.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree or equivalent transportation experience.
• Detail-oriented with the ability to handle multiple projects.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Dispatch and tender customer loads.
• Dispatch and tender co-pack and inbound purchasing loads.
• Coordinate with logistics, scheduling and plants to move product timely and cost-effectively.
• Daily communication with carrier base to secure equipment.
• Coordinate with customer service, commodities, and scheduling to secure equipment.
• Reach out to ~80 carriers for overflow orders and reduce deadhead costs.
• Coordinate with Scheduling Coordinator to align loads with warehouse capabilities.
• Track and trace current loads to ensure on-time delivery.
• Cross-train in all Dispatch group functions.
• Other duties as assigned.

Centralized Transportation Dispatch (Friday - Monday) - Remote

This position reports to the Supervisor of Dispatch.

Typical hours for this role are as follows:

Friday 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Saturday 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Sunday 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Monday 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• - Dispatch and tendering of customer deliver loads.
• - Responsible for the dispatch and tendering of all co-pack and inbound purchasing loads.
• - Work closely with logistics, scheduling and our plant locations to secure equipment and ensure product is moved in a timely and cost-effective manner.
• - Daily communication with current carrier base to work ahead and secure equipment.
• - Work with customer service, commodities, value-added whole birds, and scheduling to secure equipment when needed.
• - Reach out to carrier base (approximately 80 carriers) for overflow orders and provide synergies with interplant dispatch and reduce deadhead costs.
• - Work with Scheduling Coordinator to ensure customer and interplant loads are scheduled reasonably to be compatible with warehouse abilities and to reduce detention costs.
• - Track and trace of current loads to help ensure on time delivery.
• - Will be cross trained in all functions of the Dispatch group.
• - Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

• - Willing to accept continual repetitive changes in a fast-paced environment.
• - Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.

• - Must be a Citizen or National of the United States, a lawful, permanent resident, or have authorization to work in the United States.

• - Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline or equivalent transportation experience.

At Hormel Foods, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. The base hiring pay range for this role is $17.25- $28.50 per hour, and your actual pay within that range will depend upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, job-related knowledge, skill set, level of experience, and geographic market location.
